Laundry Room Update

Saturday, February 27, 2016

Hey guys!

Just dropping in to say hello and see how your Saturdays going!

I'm still playing catch up on blogging and trying to get you back up to speed on the happenings at The Daily Nest.

One project that we did last year was remodel the laundry room. First let me apologize for the horrible quality of this before picture!

One problem with this space was storage. Also we had an awkward window that wasn't centered. So it made it hard to center the washer and dryer there and just looked weird. Plus, it was a totally non-functional window, and not much light even came through it.

Our solution was to block up the window and add 5ft. shelves across the wall.

Before

A new door to the laundry room was also added with a cute stencil from an Etsy shop.

After

Ahhh so much better! The shelves are from Ballard Designs. They're the 5 ft. length by 12 inch deep.  We added bead board to the back wall and painted it Benjamin Moore's White Dove. The walls are painted BM Revere Pewter.

Now I have so much more storage for baskets for holding essential laundry goods. I placed all my detergents in pretty glass canisters from Target to look prettier! My husband doesn't get it!

I'm also in love with my new Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. And a little bit of glam with the chandelier makes the room seem not so utilitarian!

It almost makes doing laundry fun!

Until next time my friends!

New Colors For Spring!

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

If you're like me Spring is your favorite time of year!

With Spring there's a freshness, a newness, and a happiness that comes with it.

I love everything about Spring. From the flowers, to the colors and I love Easter!

Every year I start thinking about what my "new" colors for Spring will be. This year I'm loving Blue!

Navy blue, robins egg blue, gray blues! You name it I love it!

We purchased the Chadwick sofa from Ethan Allen and of course there's a story! Geez! Leave it to me to have a sofa story! But I'll get into that in an upcoming post!

It's everything I wanted in the look and style! I love the tufted back, the nail heads and the rolled arms! But like I said, a story!

I also changed up the rug situation. I swear I have a rug and pillow addiction! I think I need a storage unit for all my pillows and rugs. Crazy!

I fell in love with this rug from Rugs USA (Just click the link to get the details of this rug)  It's a beautiful oriental floral. The colors are gorgeous and the design is so unique! It's a low pile and has a pre-worn look. The beautiful shades of blue, gray and cream go perfectly in my space. And it was 70% off so the price was right too!

I also picked up these Ikat pillows from Pottery Barn in blue. This picture was before I bought the right size insert so they look a little flat. But I'm very happy with them!

So what colors are you bringing in your home this Spring?

Have a great day!

I'm Back!

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great New Year!

I can't believe that it's 2016! Where has the time gone?

I know it's been a really, really LONG time since I've blogged, but it just seems like it's been a crazy year! And not only that, but creatively I've been struggling!  So because I didn't want to subject y'all to mediocre blog posts = BORING! I put it aside for a while!

I've stayed busy on Instagram and I love it there! I have over 13,000 followers now and it totally blows my mind! It's such a fun and warm home decorating community! If you haven't tried Instagram I urge you to pop over and see what it's all about. Just click the camera icon on the right side bar of my blog and it will take you to my IG feed.

So just to catch you up I thought I would share a few pictures of what's been going on in my home lately.
We've made some changes to the kitchen with new counters and they are beautiful!
I wonder now why we didn't do them sooner!

We had black granite before and it was so hard to maintain with fingerprints and smudges and showed everything! I really despised them.
I decided to go with a white Quartz. Some sweet friends on IG recommended a company, Cambria Quartz and they turned out better than I expected!

Isn't it great when things turn out better than what you envisioned? I think so!

The color is Torquay, which is a creamy white with gray veining.  They really are beautiful and so easy to maintain. The good thing about quartz is it requires no sealing like granite does. They don't scratch, etch and are heat resistant. Although I have to admit I haven't tested that out yet. But I do have a 12x12 sample piece that I use for a hot pad and so far no damage!

Well that's a good start back! I would love to hear from you to see what everyone has been up to!
Drop me a line!

Have a great day!
