Given Some Hallway Love!

Monday, July 21, 2014

If you remember a while back I posted about hallways and how I've always loved them. If you don't remember, no problem you can click here.

Basically I said how hallways can be forgotten when you're in the process of decorating your home. There are definitely more spaces that are more important!

Over the last couple of days I've been focusing on our hallway with a couple of extras to spruce it up a bit. I thought I'd share with you today what I've come up with so far. I'm still playing around with the styling on the cabinet, but overall I'm happy with how it's turned out.

The cabinet is the Hemnes Shoe Cabinet in white from Ikea. I love that it is so narrow, so it's perfect for the hallway.

Also it can store a minimum of 8 pairs of shoes or I'm thinking maybe my Daily Nest files, because it's right outside the room that I blog. We'll see.

I also continued the wrought iron light fixture theme from the living room and bought 2 of these carriage house chandeliers from Ballard Designs. These are the small ones and can be hung right at the ceiling.

I picked up this guy from Homegoods and love it! He's really colorful which wakes up my dark hallway.

At just a little over 8 inches wide the cabinet is perfect here. I can see myself changing out the hardware in the future and I even thought briefly about painting it somehow to jazz it up. You never know it could happen!

And I don't have to worry about my Granddaughter tipping it over, because it's screwed into the wall.

My hallway is L-shaped and this is the front hallway looking down to The Daily Nest room.  I also bought two nautical inspired striped runners for the hallway from Overstock.

So there you have it! My hallway is not forgotten anymore!
