Three Wall Treatments That You Can Do Today!

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

Do you have a wall that's just staring you in the face saying, "Do something with me!"

But maybe you don't want to invest in doing the whole entire room, which is costly and time consuming.

When we started our little project of taking out our wall between the kitchen and dining room, we decided that it would look better to leave a half wall. As I posted about here.

Now here's a little secret…shhh! At first when my husband got it torn down I thought to myself, "Oh boy this looks weird!"

But then he started adding the molding and trim and suddenly it looked like it had always been here. Here's a sneak peek, before any paint and all new crown molding.

No judging just yet! It still has a VERY long way to go!

It did start me thinking about how different wall treatments can add instant flair and show your personality. The good part is these three treatments could be done in one day! Some more easily than others.

1. Grasscloth Wallpaper-
I know what you're thinking, "What is 1980 calling? But seriously grasscloth is making a comeback. It gives the room texture and feels a little organic without going overboard. Keep in mind grasscloth is not recommended for kitchens or baths where steam and moisture could be a problem.

2. Planked Walls-
This is a new take on a very traditional wall treatment. Installing it horizontally gives it a more modern look. Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick does it beautifully, as usual. Click the link for a full tutorial.

3.  Paint Stencil-
I just realized I'm in a little time travel machine right now. Because I stenciled my kitchens, bathroom and dining rooms years ago. Again, it's making it's way back! But, the patterns and designs have come a long way.

I love this trellis design found here from  Amazon
I'm not loving the bed though.

What do you think? Do you have a free day?
